Tales from the Life of Casey
Jul. 13th, 2006 09:27 amTwo weeks ago I shoved someone at Newark station. I've become one of THOSE commuters.
There's this magic trick by which if I miss my NYC train, I can catch the next express train, get to Newark before my usual train, and then hop back and catch my local train. So I had to perform this act, and got to Newark on time, ran to the track where my train would arrive, and hopped on the escalator. There, 3 people in front of me just stood, enjoying the ride. I figured it'd be okay, and they'd start moving as we got closer to the top. 2 people start moving. Guy directly in front of me with giant backpack stays still. I figure he'll move once we get to the top of the escalator. Guy stands still. We get off the escalator, and my train is RIGHT THERE. The doors are open, most of the people leaving the train are off. Guy stands still directly in front of me and looks around, in a crowd. I shove him aside and spit, "EXCUSE ME!" and run onto the train, just as the doors close behind me. Oy.
