I was reminded to post this once I finally saw my friends page and saw everyone's NaNoWriMo counts. Two days late or so...

Stitches made: 11,527.
Stitches not made: 38,473

It's not as much as I had hoped, but I also did knit a little sweater, so I spent usual knitting time (train ride) sewing that up, and I swore I'd finish my dad's blanket by Thanksgiving (it was a Father's Day gift), so there was more time spent weaving instead of knitting or crocheting. But I did make a few scarves, a couple gifts, and some hats. I also spent some time trying to figure out a keychain pattern to give to coworkers, and it seemed unfair to count stitches that had existed for 5 minutes before being frogged. Blah.

I crocheted a hat too small to fit on human heads. I think I'll have to frog the sparkly pretty bottom bits and widen the top so it'll fit on a normal person. My head is ginormous, so I can't judge, especially given that this hat is being made for someone much smaller than me. Guh.

The original blog post is here. The idea?

1. Instead of writing 50,000 words in a month, knit 50,000 stitches.
2. Crochet stitches count.
3. The 50,000 stitches do not have to be a part of a single project (though what a project it would be), and the project does not have to be a sweater.
4. Update with your stitch count for the day and month thus far, and give us many pictures!

I'm working on a puppy sweater for one of my coworkers. No idea how many stitches I knit yesterday, but I'll start counting today. Huzzah! Also, with holiday knitting, this should go pretty damn quick.

(I think the name is sorta stupid, too)

Holiday gift knitting has begun. The first scarf is almost done. PRAISE ME! That being said, this first scarf seems REALLY LONG, and I wonder if that'll be okay. I'm measuring length against myself, and I have the bone structure of a football player. I'm assuming most torsos come out to the same size, so it'll work out. Yikes.

Conversation from this morning:
Kirk: You make me happy.
Casey: I try.
Kirk: I make you pancakes!
Casey: YAY!

I think I win this deal.

OMGs.

And I'm watching promos with Carrie Fisher in them right now!

I am so full of burrito it is like my tummy is pregnant by burrito. BLARGGGGGGGGGG SO FAT AND FULL OF FOOD.

I found a gym near me that charges $30/month. I'm thinking that it's a sweet enough deal that I no longer have an excuse not to gym.

I got yarn today! From Knitpicks! It is pretty! And now I only have 50 crafts I'm supposed to be doing! YAYS!

I've got about 500 projects going on right now at work when I usually have 5. AHHHHH.

As I sit around in post-yoga pain, as the hospital decides to call me back sometime maybe if I have to come back in for more testing, I have been alerted to Hello Kitty crafts.

Hello Kitty Creativity - It's in French, but Hello Kitty cuteness is really an international language, ain't it? Check here for knitting graphs of HK.

Hello Kitty Knit-Along - I must warn you: beyond this link are pictures of children in homemade knit Hello Kitty items. CUTE.

This weekend was pretty awesome.

- Friday night, Kirk and I went to Beana's, this local Mexican place that gives us ENTIRELY TOO MUCH GOOD FOOD, so we always have leftovers. There's also always a supply of strange customers with silly conversations. This time, a man and woman saw our enchilada and the woman went ballistic! "That's what I wanted! That's what it's supposed to look like! THAT'S what I wanted to order!" "Um, an enchilada?" "Yeah, that's what I ordered!"

- Saturday was just supposed to be quick errands, but involved running to two craft stores that were pretty far apart(A.C. Moore and Michael's), 2 comic shops that were similar distances, and then hung out in Barnes & Noble at least an hour (long enough for Kirk to read through The Exterminators and me to skim the second Penny Arcade collection). I also finished off a caramel apple cider from Starbucks while there. mmmmmmmmmm.

- We also ate at this place called Fresh Squeezed, which sounds like a smoothie joint, but is a little healthy eatery next to a NYSC. I had what I consider to be pretty much the BEST WRAP EVAR there, and a purty damn good smoothie too. The wrap was a "Cubana", which is grilled chicken, rice and beans, tomatoes, onions, monterey jack cheese, sour cream, AND PLANTAINS. It's like a burrito, but SWEET. Heart.

- Saturday night we stopped at White Castle to get dinner (I've had a hankering all week, and Kirk's always up to storm the castle), and discovered they have a meal where you can get 18 and a sack of fries for $9.99. SCORE! Many burgers were eaten, and many "Hey honey! I'M HOLDIN' YER SACK!!!" jokes were made.

- Sunday was a day of sloth and leftovers. We sat around all day and watched movies and South Park and anime and MST3K and ate all our bits and pieces of meals from the two days before. I cleaned my room and organized my yarn stash. Another round of cleaning will be needed before Thursday night, when my parents are coming up for surgery visitation. Like reorganizing sensitive materials into the hatboxes and pushing things into the back of the pyjama drawer.

- This morning, I had to undergo Pre-Admission Testing at JFK. They gave me a little patient bracelet for reasons unknown to me - they drew blood, took my blood pressure, and told me not to eat after midnight. Maybe they thought I'd try to escape. Whatever. I kept it on most of the day out of laziness and a desire to look like I had gone to the MOST AWESOME CONCERT EVER (especially when coupled with the bloody cotton ball taped to my inner elbow).

- Tonight is anime night with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] jaina. Do not disturb us! HAM!

- Started yet another project: The Pirate Queen's Booty Bag. Yarr. Also picked up the current Vogue Knitting, which has an awesome Sudoku patterned blanket. EEEE!

Goes to show you, kids - buy yarn as you need it for specific projects, not cause "it looks pretty and I'm sure I'll use it in something."

Because the best thing to do on your first business trip is to bring along a doll.

JoAnn's Fabrics is having a sale on Singer Sewing Machines to celebrate National Sewing Month or something. Check it out if you're in the market for one.

While checking the TSA website to see if all knitting needles are allowed, or just plastic ones, I saw this on the main page, under what liquids you can carry on flights:

Up to 4 oz. of essential non-prescription liquid medications including saline solution, eye care products and KY jelly.

Man, I know the airlines are trying everything to make more people fly these days, but I didn't know free permission to join the mile-high club was included in my ticket! Maybe jetBlue also has increased bathroom size in addition to more legroom. Hopefully there are no snakes on my plane.

Even if you're not a knitter, take a moment and make decisions for me :)

I dig these gloves. What color do you think I should make them in? I'm leaning towards Morning Glory or Rocky Mountain Dusk. I like purple.

Fuck, I also need to knit this: Chicken Viking Hat.

Think I can knit this in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19)? Oooh! THAT'S what I'll knit on the plane and in the airport while I'm on my business trip! BRILLIANT! Er, I mean, AVAST!

Hey kids! It's time for another project Casey started that she doesn't really have time for! YAY! These are gonna end up being fingerless sort of arm-warmery gloves. They're crocheted with ribbing and a lace dc cluster pattern. If that's Greek to you, it just means they're gonna be warm and stuff. Whoot.

Dammit, this picture looked much better on my phone.

Nothing beats a day off spent at home crocheting and watching DIY Network. Hee.

Found the Garden Trains Association, which I think I should pass on to my Dad - he used to be wild about model trains as a little boy, and he seems to be trying to get back into the hobby in preparation of retirement. The idea of doing it outside might be good for him since otherwise my parents have no sense for gardening, but like decorating the outdoors. Also, he's worried about setting up the trains indoors, and Willowzilla attacking the townsfolk and eating trees.

Oh, Knitty Gritty, why do you do such nice projects in such UGLY yarn?
