40cakes: (Playgirl)
1. What book or books were special to you in your childhood?
Sleepover Friends, Matilda

2. What was particularly special or memorable about those books?
The Sleepover Friends always got to go on mild adventures (bike rides to the mall!) and had a regularly-reaffirming bond that I always wanted (I craved having a small group of friends that had sleepovers every Friday and could easily fit their personalities into basic types).

3. Have you re-read any of them as an adult?
Matilda I've read a million times over. I still love it.

4. If so, were the books as good as you remembered them?
See above. I haven't read the books that much a million times over, but in watching cartoons from my youth, I realize they're all not as good as I remember.

5. What do you think about movies being made out of children's classics (like the Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of The Rings, etc.)?
Don't think I ever thought of LotR as being a "children's classic". As I'm an adult, I don't know that movies made of children's classics are made with me in mind as an audience, but I prefer movies that stay true to the themes of a book rather than being a scene-for-scene translation.
40cakes: (me!)
1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain. Everyone on both sides of my parents' families is named after someone within their immediate families, so my parents wanted to bring in a new name for the tree. Kris Kristofferson had just had a daughter named Casey, and my parents thought that was a lovely, good Irish name.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance? Childfree. I pick out cat's names. For the record, I've had Cleo, Bubba, and Willow.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been? Probably still Casey. At least then people wouldn't pronounce it "cassie". Seriously, how do people REGULARLY fuck up my name?
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why? In the sixth grade, I started going by my middle name, Elizabeth. I thought Casey was a boy's name, and had this whole complex to get over, since my hair was always cut very short and I played sports and wasn't interested in girly things. In high school, since my name was listed as "C. Elizabeth" on the roster, everyone started calling me "C". In college it came back to Casey, because "Call me C" was too hard to explain and sounded rather stupid. So I've had enough name changes, thanks, and I'll stick with my real name.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly? See the free text box in my LJ. Jamba Juice is the most telling, since they ask for your name, type it into the register, and on the receipt, you can see what they've typed. It wasn't until the mid nineties that people started fucking up my name, oddly enough. Previous to that, once in a blue moon, I'd get a "K.C." or a "Kasey." Now everyone just pulls vowels out of their asses.
40cakes: (Important Questions)
1. If you had all the money in the world and could choose to own anything, what you would get and why?
A beach. My own damn beach. Kept clean by hired workers. I would perhaps keep some fishes and a dolphin or two there. And off to the side would be a freshwater lake for manatees to play in.

2. If you were to do something that scares you, what would it be?
Skydive? Only if [livejournal.com profile] zuppy28 holds my hand and I make sure to pee well in advance.

3. What was your first pet?
CLEO! I loved Cleo. She was sweet and soft and fluffy and didn't mind that I was a horrible little hellion that dressed her up in Cabbage Patch clothes.

4. What's the farthest you've traveled?
I've flown back and forth between Philly and LA, is that what you want to know?

5. If you were a season, which one would you be and why?
Summer! Mm, summer. Loves me some summer.

Extra one: If you were a song, which one would you be and why?
I would be Song flight 841, going to Hawaii.

1. What kind of computer do you have? (Mac, iBook, Dell, etc.)
Dell Laptop at home.
2. How old is it? Are you happy with it?
One year old. I wish it ran a little faster and let me play City of Heroes, but it ain't bad. It's paid for, let's put it that way.
3. How many computers are in your household? (at home if you are away at school)
I have one, my parents have the computer I used through college.
4. What are your favorite games/timewasters on your computer?
LiveJournal, Sudoku, Orisinal Morning Sunrise, Stuff On My Cat.
5. If money were no object, what kind of computer would you like to have?
50 Gajillion GB hard drive, 700 GHz, slices, dices, cooks, cleans. And looks sexy.

1. Photo albums or picture frames?
Photo albums. I don't have a lot of space in my room for picture frames, but I have room for photo albums. Also, I like to put snarky little captions with everything.

2. Digital camera, disposable, or point-and-click?
I wish my digital camera were a little smaller, but I suppose that's the price you pay for getting a higher-end model. (It was at the time I got it, anyway.) But I love not having to go to the developer anymore, and not having to scan pictures in to share.

3. What facial expression (of yours) is usually captured in pictures?
I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] jaina could better answer this.

4. What's your favorite picture and why?
I like this one that I cropped and abused for this icon. I think it's in my lj pics gallery somewhere, too.

5. Do you take the picture after you say "1, 2, 3", or after you say "2" and right when you say "3", or do you use another method or not count?
I subscribe to the "Okay, I'm gonna take your picture! ...click!" school of model preparation. Which is sometimes followed up by the "...ooh. One more!" method.
