I'm Totally Psyched About This Humiliation!

I've been following this from Feministe, but for those of you who haven't had the pleasure:

1. Back in 1999, The Onion posted an op-ed called, "I'm Totally Psyched About This Abortion!" by "Carolyn Weber".

2. Somehow, last week, "Pete" at March Together for Life stumbled over the 7-year old piece, and wrote a scathing attack on Miss Weber's scruples.

3. Everyone in the universe tapped Pete on the shoulder and let him in on a little secret.

4. Pete doesn't stand down, claiming that how could he have known it was fake? He's really talked to people like that while out "in the field", marching around with posters of aborted fetuses. He claims that he totally had a conversation with a woman who thought toddler murder was kosher, as he compared abortion to killing a little girl just for being an annoying little girl. Because we all get abortions all the time in the name of convenience and stuff. I just fit one in the other day during lunch break. (Also, you may notice he claims to have "turned the satire back at them", and then defines satire...by copying and pasting the definition of "sarcasm".)

5. Pete posts again to claim, okay, the piece is satire, but obviously it has the left wingers behind it because of the contraception line! THAT MUST BE IT! (From the Onion: "The funny thing is, I actually have the pro-life movement to thank for this opportunity. If my HMO wouldn't have bowed to their pressure not to cover oral contraceptives, I never would've gotten pregnant in the first place. Then what would I be doing a week from Thursday?")

6. Pete says his original post was a joke all along! HA! NOW WHO'S STUPID FOR NOT GETTING THE JOKE, HUH?! HUH?!?!?

7. In an aside most telling about the way Pete's mind works, he protests abortions and puts up signs in front of the Holocaust Museum in DC.
