The original blog post is here. The idea?

1. Instead of writing 50,000 words in a month, knit 50,000 stitches.
2. Crochet stitches count.
3. The 50,000 stitches do not have to be a part of a single project (though what a project it would be), and the project does not have to be a sweater.
4. Update with your stitch count for the day and month thus far, and give us many pictures!

I'm working on a puppy sweater for one of my coworkers. No idea how many stitches I knit yesterday, but I'll start counting today. Huzzah! Also, with holiday knitting, this should go pretty damn quick.

(I think the name is sorta stupid, too)

I was thinking that myself. My job starts to slow down a bit (before kicking immediately into high insane get shit done gear in January), but I can't really knit at work. I'd imagine some people could still sneak in writing if they work at computers. I'm knitting a lot of gifts this year anyway, so hopefully this will motivate me to do things BEFORE December 24 (or December 15, whatever's between you and your god).

Ah, fic insanity, I share that. I just finished pulling my hair out over a contest deadline, I'm currently tearing the remains out overe an exchange--and I'm totally signing up for the Christmas one too.

ooh this sounds interesting. i'm knitting my very first ever scarf right now! its 100% garter stitch in worsted weight yarn on size eight needles, so needless to say i am about 1/2 way done with it and bored out of my mind, but i forced myself to do something super elementary so that i'd be able to master the art of holding the kneedles in my hands, since its goofy and awkward at first, and i am a klutz. my plan is working, since my first couple of inches look a little stupid, and there's a gaping vagina-like hole where i screwed up a stitch or two, and now its starting to look really tight and nice. which is arguably also vagina-like. however i fully intend to start a new scarf as soon as i'm done with this one - ribbed and TWO COLORS, i'm so excited - so perhaps that can be my nasweknimo project!
