40cakes: (Make me some Brownies)

Kirk and I went grocery shopping today after work, and while we were in the frozen foods section, I said I wanted to get Jell-O Pudding Pops. I've had cravings for them now and again for the past six months or so.*

So I get to the ice cream pops section and don't see them. SHOCK! I walked up and down the aisle looking for Jell-O Pudding Pops, and couldn't find them! Then I wondered if Jell-O Pudding Pops were still even made. The last time I had one, I was about 10? Do they still exist? I NEED YOU ALL TO ANSWER MY BURNING QUESTIONS.

*Kirk said we should only get them if we did Bill Cosby impersonations while we ate them. I agreed.

I just read somewhere recently* that they don't make them anymore.

I will always mourn the Jello Shake-a-Pudding. That shit was the bomb. MMMM BUTTERSCOTCH OM NOM NOM NOM.

*(er, I'm pretty sure it was a fic? so who knows if it's really true)

It was powder Jello mix that you put in a tall plastic cup with a certain quantity of milk, snapped an airtight lid on, and then SHOOK THE CRAP OUT OF IT for, like, 90 seconds or something. AND THEN YOU ATE IT OUT OF THE CUP WITH A LONG SPOON. Ah, summers at my grandparents' house!

...what's a Jello Jiggler?

Jell-O Jigglers were essentially Jell-O, made in a deep cookie sheet or baking pan, and then you cut them into shapes using fancy branded cookie cutters. So instead of eating it out of a little bowl or cup like regular, you were supposed to pick it up with your hands and eat it. My mom refused to make it that way, so I have no idea if it just fell apart in your hands or what.

no! you had to cook jello jigglers with like less water or something, so they remained firm while you ate them with your hands.

Really? I did not know this. I am learning so much about Jell-O tonight, this shit is bananas!

Seriously, though, my mom had fancy Tupperware gelatin/pudding dishes, so she refused to make me Jigglers, despite my begging and pleading that Bill Cosby wanted me to have them.

I don't even know what randomly brought on the craving. I had a flavor in my mouth, and I was trying to identify it and came up with Pudding Pops! AND I DON'T KNOW WHY.

I am pretty sure they stopped making pudding pops. I remember that being a news-worthy thing ten or so years ago.

And now I retreat because I feel like I just brought the angel of darkness or something with my terrible pudding-pop related news.

Dammit that's a shame, because pudding pops sounds like Just The Thing for my horrible throat malady.

Are Fudgsicles good?
