- Amazon.com launched its digital music store with nearly 2.3 million DRM-free tracks priced to undercut Apple's iTunes store. Single MP3 songs go for 89–99 cents each while albums are priced at $5.99–$9.99 (compared to $1.29 each/$9.99 per album for Apple's unprotected songs.) So far Universal Music and EMI are the only majors supplying the store, along with thousands of indie labels representing 180,000 different artists. Like Apple, the site asks users to download a client application to manage the content. But once downloaded, the tracks are automatically transferred to the users' iTunes collection. The system also enables uploads to an iPod, Zune Player, BlackBerry or any other device that plays MP3s.

I really like that it works with iTunes, etc., because I think one of the reasons iTunes has stayed on top of the market is because every other program doesn't want to play nice with the iPod, which is pretty much the best-known brand of mp3 player, I'd say.

- Los Altos, CA start-up MooWee.tv launched an application that enables internet video content to be viewed on television using an internet-connected Nintendo Wii console. The user interface, optimized for the Wii controller, enables users to search for videos, share favorites and access most viewed or even editor's picks. The software also keeps track of users' history and reveals where each video clip was pulled from.

I don't know what they've done that's amazing, since you can already watch YouTube using the Wii, but I'm willing to check it out. Anybody else use this yet?
