How many of you have had chickenpox? One of my buddies at work had shingles and left Tuesday afternoon. I have never had chickenpox, and know that he could be contagious to me with his flare-up. They gave me his project, so I've been handling all his crap, and this morning I woke up with a sore neck and have been really tired. I checked out webmd.com to see what the symptoms of adult chickenpox are, just in case I should watch out for anything. Two of the symptoms are "stiff neck and fatigue." So OMG I'm all paranoid that I have chickenpox, and I have my department paranoid that they'll all get shingles, and everyone's passing around hand sanitizer.

Oh, and the company's full of kids today for "Bring Your Kids to Work Day". And I so want to stick my hand in the cheezy poofs.

Yeah, I saw that, too. But where would I have gotten meningitis from, except for that college gang-bang over the weekend?

"stiff neck and fatigue" are also signs that you gave a REALLY good Blow job, is that it?

Seriously, Why the Hell did he come to work?! If all these kids get shingles it'll be a mess.

Also, he showed up to work for the same reason I tried to come into work when I had pnuemonia - WE'RE RETARDED.

yeah, I agree, you are retarded, but he is more retarded, pnuemonia isn't contagious like SHINGLES. Plus, you are a PA and people are looking for you. When you produce you are in charge of your own work. If I fucking got shingles I'd kill him.

I've never had them either. About a month ago, one of the kids at Head Start came down with them and I was freaked out for about a week. I also looked up the symptoms and I think it said a lot of the time you start to feel cold-like symptoms a few days before the outbreak, so of course I immediately started to feel like I was under the weather. Everything turned out OK, though. My mother has always believed I'm immune, since this one time in second grade when like five people came down with them at once, including this girl who sat in front of me in class and was like my best friend, and somehow I didn't catch them. So maybe you're immune, too.

I exterminate all germs! Though I think I never got them because I can't ever remember any of my friends throughout childhood getting them, probably because I moved a lot and constantly avoided outbreaks. OH NOES.

Manning got chicken pox for the first time about 3 years ago. It was really horrible, but he survived. The thing is, if you have ANY reason to believe you have them, get to a doctor. They can give you something (steroids, I think?) that will help. His sister got it about a year later too (she was about 33), and had an easier time.

Thanks! I set up an appointment on Monday to check it out, so hopefully I just have a stiff neck.

Get the vaccine if you don't have it while you're there so you won't have to freak out like this again!

Never had it but repeated varicella vaccinations were part of my time with the military.

Huh. Guess it is a matter of mindset. Stiff neck and fatigue is something I associately immediately more with such common problems as..well just sleeping weird in a given night. ;)

Just go to the doctor. They'll sort it all out.

Well also, I'm one of those people who NEVER goes to the doctor, so if I have an inkling that maybe its really serious, I feel like now I should really go.

Dude, weird! One of my pals just got shingles last week! It's the time for weirdass illness, I'm sayin'. My mom, the neighborhood doctor-wanna-be says wait a day or two to see if symptoms persist, and if so, get a blood test.
