Anybody ever been to Chicago? What's fun to do there?* Other than the Museum of Science and Industry, that is, cuz I'm a huge nerd. The Chicago Tourism site seemed difficult for me to navigate, with some links believing themselves to be executable files, and everything either having already happened in 2006, or will happen, but not in May (when I'll be there).

Suggestions?

*Other than drinking. This is partially bizniss.

I second Al's suggestion. I went to law school in Chicago and it's one of the first things I did during an orientation event. Chicago has AMAZING architecture and it is well worth the adventure...but dress like you're heading to the north pole because temperatures fluctuate like crazy and it's always so much colder by the water in Chicago.

I love the Art Institute if you are into Art Museums. It might be nice to have a drink in the Signature Room which overlooks Chicago from the 95th floor of the John Hancock tower.

Don't miss the Adler Planetarium - especially if you're a science geek. Its shows are amazing. On the first Friday of every month, you can see unlimited shows there for one price.

Millenium Park is cool and should be lovely in May.

If you have time to see a show, I highly recommend the improv act called Baby Wants Candy. They are hilarious. I can try to find you some links if you're interested. They are either performing at the Apollo Theater or at the IO, I forget which because they moved.

For other shows and things, try metromix.com. You can select a date and it'll tell you what's going on in Chicago then.

If you enjoy vegetarian food, don't miss The Chicago Diner -- their food is so good!

I would say Cubs game, but if you're already gonna be drinking, it's redundant.

I don't remember the details, but the museum's out there have a pass at a discount rate that allows you to see a lot of the different museums at a discount; so you might want to see how much time you have, which museums you want to see, and do some cost analysis.

I HAVE NO IDEA BECAUSE I TOTALLY DON'T LIVE THERE OR ANYTHING.

Seriously, though, Metromix (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/) is everyone's best friend in Chicago. Input the dates you'll be in town, and POW -- literally hundreds of things to do.
