40cakes | Is overheard_con an LJ group? It should be.

This may only be laughable to those of you who do this sort of anime crap, but this was overheard in the hallway of our hotel, from two otaku already dressed in costume AT 10PM ON THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CON HAS EVEN STARTED:

Otaku: Well, I hate to tell you this, but you're not as interesting as my '04 con neighbour, MONICA RIAL.

(Monica Rial is a voice actress. She's nice and lovely and always puts up with the crazy people, but she's hardly reclusive. And she's pretty much at EVERY SINGLE CON I'VE GONE TO.)

Our hotel room is sweet! And also a suite.* They give us free booze, free breakfast, and free sodie pop and popcorn. Also, two TVs. I knew I shoulda brought the Wii so we could break hotel property like real rock stars. The closet is full of cosplay and the hotel is full of acne-ridden, Inu-Yasha-outfitted teenagers who say things like "kthxbai" and "lolz" in actual speech.

These. These are my people.

Also, we're not even the official con hotel, and there are this many. These must be the richer otaku, who are even more pretentious. AWESOME.
