Look! Blanket of doom is finished! Sort of! I have to go back with some more green yarn and weave it in, but I've had it for so long I just gave it to him, the poor guy. It's kind of in Eagles colors, if you squint, and this weren't a phone cam pic.
After the eventful events of Saturday, Sunday was spent sleeping until dark. Monday and Tuesday were spent with Kirk, and then on Wednesday morning I drove home, planning to stay until Sunday. By Wednesday night, I was ready to leave on Friday. My parents have a magical way of making me feel 16 years old and no one understands me and I'm just gonna sit in my room and pout!
I did a lot of knitting over the weekend, finishing my Dad's blanket that was supposed to be a Father's Day present (pictured), and starting on some holiday gifts. Kept trying to come up with something I could make for my whole department, since there's at least 25 of us, and I'm poor. Still at a loss for ideas. Bah humbug.
I saw some hometown friends on Friday night, and we went out to the drive-in. Saw the last third of Happy Feet, which appears to be a rindonkulous movie (though talking with
jaina later, it seems the consensus is that the end of the movie is bizarre), and three thirds of Man of the Year, which also had stupid plot points, the worst of which was Robin Williams, a man who is often a funny comedian, playing a popular and funny comedian, reciting lines that - wait for it - weren't very funny. Also, there was a Robbie Williams song in the movie, which makes me laugh. They're my Oprah/Uma. (Robbie - "Rob-BEE! Not Rob-IN! I wasn't in Misses Fucking Doubtfire!") After all that time of leaving the battery on to listen to the radio, Susan's car stalled, and we had to jump it from Mandi's car. So while carpooling to the drive-in was originally thought to be stupid, it turned out okay!
Did laundry at my parents' place, and on Saturday, the dryer died. It kept tumbling clothes about, but seemed to lack that vital "heat" component. This is understandable, as this dryer is apparently as old as me, and has traveled through 4 states with my parents. We went to a laundromat to finish the laundry and now all my clothes smell of metal. Or urine. Or metal urine.
Came back early on Sunday to avoid the traffic, which was a successful plot (took 295 to 195 to 130 for interested parties - no traffic at all and made it home at regular estimated time), and hung out with Angie and Kirk. And now, after a week off, I'm back at work and don't want to do anything! Slug.
