Mississippi's governor has said if an anti-abortion bill comes to his desk, he will sign it. Here's the Planned Parenthood action page where you can not only send a letter to Governor Haley Barbour, but cc: your own state governor as well so that they know your stance. Here's my letter, so I can show off to all of you how absolutely clever I am. Though in retrospect, I wish I had said more about decreasing abortions by increasing education and access to birth control. Shit.
Governor, I am pro-life. I believe life is sacred and should be celebrated every day. I believe every living creature has a right to pursue happiness in their own way. I believe everyone's life is their limited-time-only chance to make their mark on the world, and since I believe we only get one shot at it, we should give it our best. I love life, and I want everyone to have a chance to love life as I do.
Because I am an advocate of life, I also believe that if anyone at any time finds herself saddled with an unwanted pregnancy, she has the right to make the private and personal choice of what to do with not only her own life, but with the potential life she could bear. No one should enter into this world unwanted. No one should be born into a home that cannot afford them. No one should be created under violent and forced circumstances.
I choose life. I choose a life rich and full of all this universe has to offer. Please don't deprive the women of Mississippi that same choice.
