40cakes: (Weekend Update)

Weekend was wonderful and schmoopy and full of Chicken Noodle Soup and cookies (an obvious choice to make you better when sick. Duh). Best weekend in a long while.

Started reading Stitch N Bitch Nation, and it's the best knitting book I've seen thus far, and that's counting every book I've picked up/purchased in any actual fabric/craft store. Also, it has way cooler patterns than the other books. I want to do illusion knitting! Of, like, a black cat on a scarf or something. After I do the other 15 million things I want to do and look neat and get distracted by. Did I mention I have a knitting project and a crosstitch project going at once? I think the only reason I was never diagnosed as ADD is because I did well in school.

Come to think of it, I did finish my purse for the Knitting Olympics. I need to take pictures and post so that all may gaze upon my handiwork with glory and awe. Though I need to attach the strap a little more secure on one side. But it's done! It is a purse! It holds things (admittedly perhaps only very light things that are not pointy and would not sneak through the sides and/or bottom)!

Just had a Luna Bar in a new flavor - Caramel Nut Brownie. It certainly quelled my desire to have Thin Mints. Now, the Nutritional Label says it's still 3 points, and full of fiber and such, but seriously - at what point does this stuff stop being healthy and turn into a glorified candy bar? It's chocolate, people. Chocolate with a slab of chocolate on the bottom, and some chocolate chips and caramel on top.

Everybody in the office is in beautiful Miami, and it certainly makes one not want to work when no one's here. Ah well. Things to be done.

though i don't knit, i always have a cross stitch project and a sewing project going on simultaneously. it takes me forever to finish my cross stitch projects, because i always pick super complicated patterns, and i never spend much time on it - i've been working on this one for about 10 or 11 months now. the one before took me about two years to complete. yet i keep buying myself kits. i have a stack of about 8 or 10 that i have to get to. i'll be done by the time i'm in my 50s.

btw, i didn't realize you were into cross stitch. have you ever gotten anything from this site? i got some xmas presents from here and i can't wait to start on them. in about a year and a half, when i finally finish my current project.

I LOVE THAT SITE. I found them in an ad in Bust magazine. I haven't ordered anything from them yet, as I just recently got into crosstitch, but frankly I can't decide which one I want first. When I was in AC Moore with Kirk this weekend, we kept talking about all sorts of lovely stitching we'd want in a place of our own, like a little stitch of a turd and a down arrow over the toilet or something.

EE. I've been debating getting that book. Guess I'll have to now.

And the commenter above you reminded me of this site, which you might also be interested in if ye cross-stitch.

Also, I watched Knitty Gritty the other day on the DIY network, and now I'm hooked. Er, needled. Whatever.

I tried cross-stitch once. I got so mad and frustrated that I ended up just stabbing it repeatedly with the needle while yelling "FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU". Don't think I'll try it again. XD

I, of course, can't load this site at work, but you just reminded me of a commercial I saw last night for the Power Bar Triple Threat. It's a frackin' candy bar. But a PowerBar. :)

Yeah, that's pretty much a frikkin' candy bar. And yet, is less points than one. What the hell are they putting in real candy bars, then?
