And to add to my LJ spam this evening...

On this day in 1969, the first ever episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus aired on BBC1. Everyone name your favourite sketch. If you mention the Parrot Sketch as performed on SNL with John Cleese and Kevin Spacey, you're so off my friendslist.

I'm all about "I've Come to Read Your Poet", "Dennis Moore", "Dip Dip Dip My Little Ship", and probably my all time favorite for no good reason "Wuthering Heights in Semaphore Code".

Dammit, I also love Alexander Yacht and his Phrasebooks, and the "All this and less": the new BBC 2 lineup, featuring Dad's Pooves, "the zany, kooky, fun-a-plenty world of unnatural sexual practices". God, and sheep in the wainscotting.

No, I can't do it. From like age 7-13 I was all about Monty Python and the Monkees XD

Sheep in the wainscotting and penguins on the telly? XD

You must know that I find it painfully painful to admit that I don't recognize "Dip Dip Dip My Little Ship". As I have dishonored my geeky name, I shall throw myself upon a point-ed stick.

The Monkees rule!

I'm sure you do XD Five men are in a foxhole in WW2, and someone has to kill himself, because there are only rations for four? One of the men has no arms, so the commander keeps trying to steer the responsibility onto him. So they try different methods of selecting, including "Dip, dip, dip, my little ship, sailed on the o-cean, you. are. IT!" and "Fisties" ("Hands behind backs!")

Completely retarded. I just love it. XD

OH MY GOD I KNOW THAT ONE. Okay, then, just didn't know it by its title. Yay, no more point-ed stick for me.

I so knew you would. XD Of course, in line with that is the sinking ship sketch.

"Women, children, red indians, spacemen and sort of idealized versions of the complete renaissance man FIRST!"
