Weekend Update
Oct. 3rd, 2005 09:32 amMe: I saw I Was a Teenage Feminist Friday night, and Serenity Sunday night, and in between I did a whole mess o' laundry.
Dave: I thought you were gonna say "in between, I did a whole mess of crack."
Me: If I had, that would explain why I remember the movies bookending my weekend, and not much else.
Kirk picked me up after work Friday night and we went to see I Was A Teenage Feminist in Manhattan. I think he was a little bored, as the movie started late, and admittedly towards the end of the Q&A session, I was cursing myself for sitting right in the front of the theater. I think it was a good doc about what it means to be a Feminist now, and if we should abandon "the F word" for something else, or take back control* of it. The theater was showing Deep Throat later that night, but we didn't come back in time for it. Darn. Wandered the city for a bit before grabbing dinner at a Korean restaurant in Midtown. No longer a BBQ place as it was last time he was there, but still good. I ♥ eel. Came back to the house where we shared cake that
jaina had made. Mm, cake.
Saturday was spent curled up in sheets and saying "I DON'T WANNA GET OUT OF BED YET!" before grabbing approximately every piece of clothing I own and taking it down to the parents for some free laundry** with
jaina. There was more cake. Mm, cake.
Sunday came back and spent so much time putting away every damn piece of clothing I own, now clean. Hoorah. Saw Serenity with
pyrobovaphiliac,
jaina, and
eyepoky.*** Serenity was wonderful, and when I have brains in my head again, perhaps I can give you a real review. Until then, you'll just have to cope by reading what EVERYONE ELSE ON YOUR FRIENDS LIST thinks of it. Despite staying up late and watching Adult Swim and massive amounts of cuddle, I got up on time and stuff and came to work.
*I think it'd be really witty if, in the process of taking back some nasty women-centric words, somebody coined the phrase "Taking Cuntrol." This is why I get paid the big bucks, folks.
**Though if it takes me 9 gallons of gas to drive there and back, with gas at $3/gallon, but a load of laundry at the laundromat is $4 and I usually have 5-6 loads of laundry, am I really saving money?
***Don't you love the ease with which I jump back and forth between real names and lj names? I do.

Date: 2005-10-03 02:27 pm (UTC)Over the years alot of lines have been drawn within the group.
Years of hanging in the Barnard area forced me to learn way more about those lines then i would have ever thought possible.

Date: 2005-10-03 03:07 pm (UTC)Sounds like a Riot Grrl band album name.
I always thought a good name for a Riot Grrl band would be "Are You 486?" seeing as how I can't start one I havent had a chance to make my dream come true.
