So last night was a night of frustration as my internet went from "on the fritz" to "not fucking working." We have a wireless router hooked up to the modem so everyone can get online without krazy kables everywhere, and the router has apparently forgotten what teh intarwebs are. Called Comcast, and plugging my laptop directly to the router has confirmed that it's not that. Reset the router a couple times, and it seems to think it has internet, but can't, you know, actually connect to any websites. Though it likes to inform me that it has a very strong connection wirelessly. To something.
To make things worse, the roommate whose name I STILL don't know basically sat in his sister's room with the door wide open, and every time I'd walk past to go get a drink or a snack to ease internet frustrations, he'd ask, "What they say?"
"Shuthefuckup and get yo own damn computah," is what I would've said if there were no stop signals between my brain and my vocal chords. Especially since he has one piece of furniture here and it's not so much his as he inherited it from two roommates before me and claimed it as his own.
I called tech support, so the frustration is compounded by the fact that I have to stand at the precise latitude and longitude and hold my head at a 37.6 degree angle to get a one-bar signal, so when the accented person I can't understand anyway informs me to do something, it's also CRACKLY. Oooooh.
Tonight I'm going to stop in Best Buy and purchase an extra ethernet cord, as we don't seem to have a spare, and my laptop needs to be directly connected to the router for reset and setup. I will do my damndest not to purchase Katamari and an extra controller, because I bet
pyrobovaphiliac got that tonight, and I can play at his house or he can bring it over next time he's here (please? Pretty please? I'll make nachos and have wine and bat my eyes!) At least their anime section is so horrendous I won't be tempted to buy anything DVD-wise.
Oh well. Even if internet isn't working, there's always that old-fashioned way of communication: the phone. Except I've used up my anytime minutes and I can't get a signal inside my own home. My phone has web connection and instant messenger and text messaging capabilities...that I can't use unless I sit on the porch all night. Yeah 21st century. At least I have a damn fine TV.
