Must pack for Otakon. And get wings and a shirt. jaina's bringing a hair iron, and I replied that I can pack a suitcase full of hair straightening products that might work on my hair for all of 30 seconds. Maybe we should just pull out the ironing board and I'll slap my head down on it.

This is pale_jezebel's first con; any recommendations for things to bring? I warned her of shower schedule backup, and told her to bring a cell phone charger, towel, pillow, and sleeping bag. And booze and video games, which are most important. I let her know we don't really stick together sometimes, and wander off to see different things. We're preregistered and heading down on Thursday.

Anything else I should tell her about? Any anime I could recommend she see? She's a big Stargate/Steven King/sci-fi fan. And she liked Vampire Princess Miyu.

You've summed up about all I would have to say. I would mention that mealtimes are somewhat erratic, and breakfast is almost a non-starter. jaina was talking about bringing some breakfast bars or something, so we'll definitely have some pret-a-manger noshes around. Having a small carry-pack capable of toting a water bottle is a good idea. Also, comfortable shoes are a MUST - the Wyndham is a fair walk from the con center. I got a quarter-sized blister on the back of one heel at Otakon 2002 and had to wear flipflops for a week.

Speaking of anime, is anyone bringing a DVD player to hook up to the TV so we can watch our own stuff? I would bring my PS2 except that it's not fair for me to leave husband alone for the weekend and then take away his toys.
