Jun. 25th, 2007 08:19 am- Nintendo is on track to release a Mii social networking channel this fall, featuring contests and other social gatherings around the digital likenesses Wii gamers create of themselves. The round, kokeshi-inspired avatar figures can already be used to interact with other internet-connected Wii owners using the "Mii Parade" feature.
- Meanwhile Sony announced that more than 380 games are going to be released for the PlayStation 3 in the next 9 months, including 200 packaged software titles and over 180 online games. Sony has its work cut out trying to make the $599 game system a success. The Wii has been creaming the PS3 in the U.S. marketplace: Retailers sold 338,278 Wiis in the U.S. in May compared to just 81,604 PS3s and 154,932 Xbox 360 units, according to NPD Group.
- Comedy Central launched Indecision 2008, its own tongue-in-cheek election portal dedicated to "something approximating election news with something approximating honesty." The site features clips from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Lil' Bush as well as wallpapers and various interactive polls.
- Will Ferrell and his scene stealing co-star baby Pearl from "The Landlord" are back with "Good Cop, Bad Cop," premiering tonight at 8 pm ET on comedic video sharing site Funnyordie.com. Ferrell plays a hard boiled criminal who refuses to spill his guts. Pearl is the tough lieutenant who tries to get him to talk. This is Pearl's swan song performance, according to L.A.-based FunnyorDie.
- At ABC, the anthology Masters of Science Fiction kicks off on August 4 at 10p, with narrator Stephen Hawking. This series presents "thought-provoking tales of present and future Earth."
"For our science fiction anthology series, let's get a narrator with a cool British accent."

"What, like use the computerized voice box of Stephen Hawking to narrate?"
