40cakes: (very badly drawn boy)

A while back, I posted a link to a shitty "OMG Vash is a junkie!!!!11" story. I gave it a bad review. The author interpreted this as a flame. Now, this all took place, like, a month ago. Today, I get an email.

I'm going to be polite as possible, which I'm afraid you weren't in your review of my fanfiction. I'm sorry if you feel so strongly about this, but did you find the need to cuss in your review so strong that you had to do so? Cussing in review and insulting me was hardly enough to get my respect as a fellow author. The nastygram you left on my review board did lower my respect of you quite a few points. Look, just because the fanfic you read doesn't go with your personal views of the Trigun universe doesn't mean you have to bash it. There are several fanfics, while I like their style of writing, I do not agree with their viewpoint. I do not go on bashing the other writer, which you have. I have a request of you. You have already stressed your dislike of my story. My request is leave the fanfic alone. No flaming whatsoever. If you have any beef with my story or me, I requst you IM me at losermcsucktacular or e-mail me omgimadildo@imhidingheremailstoopid.com. Just please refrain from any further flaming.

I couldn't resist.

Me: Flame: OMG u r teh suk & this story suks 2 lol

Negative Review: If you would have me believe Vash is a morphine junkie, set the story before the series began, and show me what happened between then and episode 1 that made him change his life around, or set it post-series, and show what happened that made his mind collapse to the point of drug abuse. Do not misread humorous irony to prove your serious point.

You are a good author, and I point this out because your characterization is flawed, but everything else is okay, and it would be nice to see you improve because Lord knows the fandom needs more good authors.

In other words, a good author doesn't dismiss a negative review as a flame. She learns from it and moves on. If you want to post in a public forum, be prepared for the public.
LoserMcSucktacular: Pardon me for asking this, but who are you?
Me: EG. just responding to your email.
LoserMcSucktacular: Look G, I have been flamed before in the past out.
Me: ok
Me: out of curiosity, did you send lady shadowcat a similar email?
LoserMcSucktacular: No I didn't.
Me: just checking

She gets two thumbs down for not being entertaining, in her writing or personality. So don't review flame her! It's not worth it! OMG!

I've noticed about vall that they consider truly sickening violence okay, but God help you if you swear or write about sex ('cause, y'know, it makes the baby Jesus cry.) Okay, maybe not that far, but that's not much of an exaggeration. ^_^

Y'know, for awhile I thought this girl's email really was omgimadildo for awhile, until I read the second half of that email address and realized how dumb I am. :) KC

I've noticed that, too. One member has a story that involves (non-sexual) rape, and it's hailed as a good example of the pairing by other authors who write the couple romantically.

Also, on the member's opinions page, there's a lot of "I'll be in the middle of an NC-17 fic, and sex will pop up! EW!" Because gory violence, adult language, and drug abuse is okay. But sex is icky.
