Google kept turning up sites for something called Blake's 7...but I haven't heard of that until now. (Unless adrenaline and soma is something else of Huxley's I've happened to miss ^_^;)
B7 lifted soma from BNW and added adrenaline, so it sedated and enlivened all at once. Purely for medicinal use, but my favourite character, Vila, used it rather more heavily... B7 is an *extremely* dystopian British scifi show. It's amazing, and was my first online fandom.
Soma was the name of a plant that contained hallucinogenic properties and was used in ancient Indian Vedic rituals thousands of years ago. That is from where Huxley borrowed the name. Today soma is the name of a muscle-relaxant often given to people following surgery.
Beat me to it! Vedic Soma is in legality limbo, like Opium Poppies (legal to have, illegal to use). You can buy the stuff online, and according to the site I found, Vedic Soma is the same stuff the Berserkers used.
HA! The other day I caught a commercial for some erectile dysfunction drug that gave the disclaimer: if erection lasts more than 4 hours, medical attention is required. My first thought: "I've gotta tell Casey!!!!" :)
