You know, in anime fandom, there are always the "old" fans, who have loved a show since the day it premiered in Japan. And they're always the first ones to get wanky as soon as something becomes popular, because all the n00b fans are ruining it omg.

I've always hated those wankers.

But then I read at least one post a day about, "Wait. Trigun changed its name?" after 12 posts of "Pioneer changed its name to Geneon. The next book of the Trigun manga is called Trigun Maximum."

And I just joined the karekano community, where there have already been two recent posts of, "When did Yukino and Arima have sex? I totally missed that!" (For those who don't know, there are a good 13 pages dedicated to them having sex, though not explicit. Kids today. Raised on porn, don't get subtlety.)

I start feeling like one of those old wankers.

Though admittedly, smaller fandom does not equal better. Just check the GTO section at FFN.

There should be an old wankers' home. Bunch of people sitting on porches in rocking chairs, reminiscing about the old days of fandom. "In my day, we called it 'japanimation'. Ah, to be young and foolish again..."
