Casey's Magical Deep Space Future Con Action!

Thursday: Went through airline security with no problems. Had a muffin, met up with [livejournal.com profile] irenak, talked about politics, ethics, and Spuffy. Took two half-filled planes to Cincinatti, then Columbus. Met up with [livejournal.com profile] arafel and [livejournal.com profile] greyvorfeed, then [livejournal.com profile] jaina picked us up! Caught up with [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval at the hotel, and then on to Gameworks! Ladies' Night! Played DDR, Guitar Freaks (FUN), and some Sky Pirates (OMG RILLY RILLY FUN). We then retired to watch some Heat Guy J, I believe. Dubbed, of course, because of JYB as Claire Leonelli (who is now called "Evil Vash"). And then, Kare Kano, because I like the manga, but I fell asleep last time we watched some. True to form, I fell asleep again.

Friday: Got up at 7 and threw on clothes to go register (Pre-reg is against my religion. My mantra: LAZY.) Other people seemed to think registration started at 7, because they were there with me. Unfortunately, it started at 9. Waiting for two hours outweighed going back upstairs, sleeping, and coming back down later. Also, by waiting in line, I got to see the confused expressions of members of two other conventions scheduled at the same time: The Board of Elections ("Cool! Support gay marriage!"), and a bunch of Army fellows. Nothing like seeing senior citizens get wide-eyed at a girl in a green wig and a tiger-striped bikini at 8 am.

Went to Best Buy and GameStop. Picked up Sailor Moon SuperS 1-3 on DVD for $8 each. WHOOT. Didn't pick up anything at Best Buy, hoping there would be really good prices at the con.

Hit the Dealer's Room. Not a lot of new/different stuff or really good prices, except that I FINALLY got the Fujiko Mine figure I've been looking for for about a year. She x Lupin figure OTP. I also picked up Hellsing: Raid and FLCL: Addict Soundtracks, Haibane Renmei 2&3 on DVD, the Utena movie artbook, and a few "interesting" doujin. Horrifying scans will follow. Ooh, and RILLY COOL little Mirielle keychain ^_^

Went to bd's - a neato Mongolian barbecue that I enjoyed and luckily [livejournal.com profile] arafel rules and spotted me money because Casey is teh dum and did not go to ATM before dinner. Domo arigatou gozaimasu [/fangirl japanese]. Came back, watched some Haibane Renmei, some Witch Hunter Robin (insecure Vash!), and played some Soul Calibur II and Dynasty Warriors 4 (both of which involved me having my ass handed to me on a silver platter, with a hollandaise sauce and white wine [He was gay and Nick had no clue]).

Saturday: Day of early wakey wakey. AMVs at 11, and of course I voted for [livejournal.com profile] jaina, not because she is my friend, but because Hallelujah is teh good. My problem with the AMVs was that a lot of vidoes felt misfiled. There was a nice comedy video that was under the "action" category. So I can't vote for it, because though it was a good comedy video, I'm supposed to be picking if it's a good action video, compared to other action videos, and oy vey.

WANKFEST! Inu-Yasha voice actor panel. Three of the most patient people in the universe. I applaud you, I do.

ADV voice actor panel totally ruled. Amanda Winn-Lee wasn't there, and no one even brought up her absence. I think she was still hungover. Monica Rial and Tiffany Grant are awesome, and I guess Greg Ayers had a neat hairstyle. Matt Greenfield is the "voice" of the EVAs. Who knew? Got Monica and Tiffany's autographs on my Noir box (Monica's autograph smudged on the trip home ;_; ), and pic of the two of them. Monica liked my purse. :p

Hung around the Dealer's Room a little bit more, and bought GTO 7, Black Heaven 1, Noir 5&6, and Lupin the 3rd 5.

Found [livejournal.com profile] dialogue! Found sushi! Sushi was good. As was edamame, which I now love. And banana fritters and mochi ice cream. [livejournal.com profile] dialogue brought me "Doko wa RUM?", my fake doujin cover commissioned at Otakon. I heart.

And then we decided to take [livejournal.com profile] jaina's laptop to artist's alley and hold up a sign proclaiming "Will Write Smut for Attention!" (As well as "VxM OTP!!!!1", "We will accept Pocky and money in lieu of attention," and "Free special for VALL members!") We got a lot of requests. Hopefully we can get them out rather quickly. I'm really looking forward to [livejournal.com profile] irenak's though. Spike Girl x Wiry One OTP!

We were only gonna do that for 15 minutes or so. An hour and a half later, we retired to watch Pretear and the Big O. Hee, Big O is neat once I get past "OMG it looks liek Batman."

Sunday: was a sad day ;_; [livejournal.com profile] arafel left us early, and then there were 5. [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval packed up her stuff and left with her boyfriend, and we said tearful bye byes.

And then we checked out. The hotel said it had accomodations for luggage to be checked, should anyone want to stick around post-checkout time. We inquired. "Just have the valet pull your car around, stick your luggage in it, and have him park it again," was his reply. So we waited. And waited. And waited. We finally notice the van has been brought up, but parked not in the line of sight of anyone waiting by the front doors. The valet gets all rude with [livejournal.com profile] greyvorfeed, who is not someone to get rude with. By the time we've gotten into the van (45 minutes later, at least), we're just tired and hungry and don't feel like stopping by anything else. Drove to the airport, had some lunch.

Our flight got cancelled! Delta says our flight has been cancelled, but we've been redirected to another flight at 3:55pm (earlier) if we'd like. Sure, why not, get home earlier equals good. Booked with United Airlines now. United says we're with US Airways. Go to US Airways. SCORE! Let Rob know he had to pick me up earlier.

Said sad goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] jaina, as our love is forbidden by security. And then we got searched! I think they were only doing it to people who had changed/cancelled flights, because they searched [livejournal.com profile] irenak also, but not [livejournal.com profile] greyvorfeed. Hmm. Luckily, America's Women: 400 Years of Heroines is a patriotic-lookin' book, and was stacked on top of dirty, dirty, wrong doujinshi. So when they searched my carryon, they didn't find those. Whew. I think that book, plus Sailor Moon SuperS DVDs on top held up my secret identity as "Just your average, adorable, innocent girl! Tee hee!"

[livejournal.com profile] greyvorfeed stayed with us until our flight showed up; she stil had at least another hour to wait. Hugs and promises to bring her doujin to translate :) as we said goodbye. Flight was straight through, Columbus to Philly. Whoot. Rob was there to pick me up ^_^, and luggage arrived at a reasonable time and with no beatups or scrapes n stuff. Finally, hugged [livejournal.com profile] irenak goodbye. We should go to Dave and Buster's sometime.

Sniff. Fun times. Oh, and, new icon!

*wipes a tear away*

I love how your icon seems to say just "will write smut." NO qualifier for Casey, the equal-opportunity perv.

Somewhere in my brain is a little cell that said "Joe was her boyfriend!" If that's wrong, I don't know why that little cell thinks that. I'll blame it on faulty mitochondria.

Oooh. Dave and Buster's. Now that is, indeed, an idea to be explored at some future juncture.

::sigh:: Post-con wind down is always a little sad. Although the ability to actually, y'know, sleep is kinda nice. ^_^

I'd imagine she was very very drunk if she was too hungover to appear at a 3pm panel the next day. She must be a professional lush. Now THAT'S an autograph worth getting.

I wish we had otaku on our plane. Teh snif.

anywho, were you the chick in the leopard bikini and green wig? if so... WHY?!

LOL. NOOOOOO.

Also, my magical post appears when it chooses. It's like Brigadoon in a way.
