40cakesAnime reviews (of what I've watched so far)
- Haven't watched the dub of Heat Guy J yet, but I like what I've seen so far. Neat villain. Good animation. I like the characters. And the dvd covers are shinyyyyy...
- The jury's still out on Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. The first episode was fantastic, the second and forth were okay, and the third was awful. A review I read compared it to Excel Saga, and I think that's wrong. MSAA is certainly trying to be as strange as Excel Saga, but it rarely succeeds. But it has a great dub and the triumphant return of the AD-Vid Notes. It also has the trailer for Azumanga Daioh, which will hopefully be out in Spring.

robinterrae would like it too, but for different reasons than me. Cuz OMG bishounen. I like the white-haired fellow. His name is Sasame. Not to be confused with Sasami.
- Angelic Layer looks cute enough to watch on Anime Network, but not to purchase. I might buy Princess Nine if I like it past episode 2. God bless Comcast Digital Cable On Demand.

Date: 2003-12-28 07:38 pm (UTC)Hrmm, if you liked the first episode of MSAA the best out of the first four, you might like it a bit more in the second half when there is a slight tone shift and such. It is kind of the inverse of Excel in that it gets a bit better (well at least in my opinion) when it turns slightly more serious.
Princess Nine is a great show. Heck, I don't even really like baseball and I liked that show.
AL is kind of cute and addictive, but it really doesn't really become much more than a CLAMP tournament fighting show. It is pretty and a bit inventive in some ways, but still.
I am jealous of your cable and Anime Network. :|
