I was gonna post something whiny about how reading what everyone else got for Christmas makes me jealous.

But then I realized that I told my parents I was totally okay if a camera was my only present, and it was, save for the usual common sense stocking stuffers (my mom always puts stuff like toothpaste and hair gel and pantyhose in my stocking).

But THEN I realized it seems like everyone else got a LOT of nice and cool presents, plus loads of money, and I got a camera.

But THEN I realized that had I not asked for a camera, and said I was cool with it being my only present, I STILL wouldn't have money and all the awesome anime and movie and video game presents everyone else has, because my parents would have taken the $400 and bought sweaters.

So I have a Chia Homer and a camera. Hee.

My family never spend much on presents, either - except for the twins, and that's as much me spoiling them as anyone. I did get a Barbie as well as an alarm clock, though, so I was incredibly happy. If gift giving is going to stress people out because they have difficulty finding the money for the presents, then to me it stops being a good, loving thing and becomes a strain... exactly the worng thing for Christmas.

Your presents rule. Every time I hear about presents I think of Ralphie and Randy in 'A Christmas Story' opening up argyle socks. Then I think about my brother opening underwear every year for 5 years in a row, until he moved out. Again, your presents RULE.
