[40cakes]

So my mom got some country cooking magazine/advertisement in the mail, and on the cover were these cute little mouse cookies. Now, I'm no Martha Stewart, but these were REALLY cute, and I decided I had to make them.

Everything started out alright...(yup, these were taken with new camera squeee!)


Aren't they cuuuute?

And then I baked them, JUST LIKE THE RECIPE TOLD ME TO, AND...



Tear.

Well, I didn't make the peanut butter dough myself, because my mom happened to buy a tub of it from one of my cousin's school fundraising thingies, so I don't think they tasted as good as they would have had I made them from scratch. And the one I tried was fresh out of the oven, so taste was beaten down by "owowowhotflatmouse"

Pre-baking, the one in the top right corner was my favourite because it had pointy-eared peanuts, and it looked a little more kitty-like.

My lord those are adorable. Peanut butter cookies always come flast for some reason. Everytime I make them they are that way too.

That the problem is the store bought dough. It doesn't have the right fat content and thus flattens out.

Made from scratch and used with either lard or real butter would most likely stay up.

After baking they look like those hyper-obese donut mice XD My boyfriend used to work with those when he was studying leptin deficiency. They are so effing cute.

And yes, your poster further up is right. They flattened because of the oils in the peanut butter dough. Chocolate chip mice would have a better shot.
