Rob mocks my anime lurve. "Anime fags" is his term, I believe. About a week or so ago, Rob told me this.
Rob: So I think it's cute that you call yourself a "gamer." How many games have you beaten?

Let's replace the word "gamer" with "otaku", "games" with "anime" and "beaten" with "watched".

My boyfriend's a fag! So THAT'S why he goes home all the time. Sigh.

Re: Graduation Party for my relatives

Mom: I'm just a little upset more didn't show, that's all.

Me: Yeah, well, I have a feeling that if I was getting married or squatting out a baby, they'd be here with bells on. I don't think they think college graduation is anything that big to celebrate.

Mom: Well, Anna got married at 17, moved into her husband's parents' house, and lived there for the rest of her life. Pearl got married at 16, lived at Kenny's, got her degree, and started having kids.

Your Uncle Johnny finished high school and joined the Navy. When he got out, he supported himself for a while before marrying Joyce. Eddie dropped out of high school, but the Army wouldn't take him because of his blood disease, so he just kinda bummed around, living off people. Then there was me.

I wasn't smart enough to go to college, I wasn't all that crazy about guys (they all seemed like bums and jerks to me), and I just KNEW there had to be more to life than going from Mom's house to being Mrs. Somebody. So I graduated high school, and signed up for the Army. And I was outta there. I graduated in June, was out of the house by July. And I served my four years, and then worked and supported myself and lived alone and was fine.

But if you ask my family, Johnny and I are the weird ones.

Me: You are. But that's why you're cool. But I'm pretty sure no one asked Rob "So when ya gonna marry 'er?" and for that I am grateful.

>^..^<

Disclaimer: I do not condone the use of the word "fag" in slur-like situations. I do, however, enjoy using the word in place of "cigarette" because it makes people's eyes go wide if they hear "Oh, he's out back with a fag."

Except that beating lots of games takes a great deal of talent, practice, determination, memorization, reflexes, coordination, and patience.

Watching lots of anime takes none of these things.

Nor is there anything wrong or strange with one person questioning another's assertion of what they are. If someone told you they were wealthy, you'd undoutedly question them as to how much money they had. If someone told you they were fast, you'd ask them how long it takes them to run a mile. If you call yourself a gamer, someone is going to ask you how many games you've beaten. Nothing odd there.

gamer, otaku...whatever...both proles. i would be insulted if i were called either one. Don't get me wrong, neither hobby is bad, but these terms are not to be equated with the late 90's geek, who was rich, and popularly accepted because of his use in society.
gamers and otaku have no worthwhile use in society. they are simply specialist consumers...not bad people, just fags. all of you. everyone i know is a fucking fag.
oh god.
