So.

Jasmine was really only theoretically evil. The lines between good and bad are blurred, I understand that. And she really would have brought about world peace. Her existence was a question of the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few. Angel chose for the rest of the world, and decided that it is better for mankind to hate each other and wage wars, but to do so with free will, rather than live a peaceful co-existence as a mindless drone. I'd have to agree with him.

So what the Hell was this season all about? We're told Cordelia is so filled with the evil power of this evil being, Jasmine, that she could not be exorcised, and the birth will kill her. Also, the evil controls her, which is why she was evil. And so, when the evil is birthed, Cordelia...goes into a coma. Cheap. Don't get me all worked up that a character I'm moderately attached to is in a life-or-death situation, then put her in a coma. That is SO All My Children.

I'm thinking out things as I go along, so bear with me.

So, she raised the Beast and macked with him (EW!) for...? So he could destroy Wolfram & Hart? That didn't work out too well. So he could create the proper "rain of fire" panic that would lead to her sex0r with Connor? That kid's screwed up enough; if she wanted him, all she had to do was ask nicely.

Did she call the Beast so she could get the MOG to bring out Angelus so Faith could break out of jail and crossover to Buffy? That's the best I'm coming up with right now.

Why stab Lila? If Jasmine was working through Cordelia to eliminate people who might cause potential problems for her birth and world peace-creating, why didn't she have all the regulars killed? They'd be my first suspects. I don't know, maybe all the other supervillains aren't as smart as me.

And coming back to Jasmine's last episode, where she told Angel that there is no perfect line between good and bad - Cordelia was pretty much acting on the completely bad side. She raised a Beast to block out the sun so vampires and other bad guys could roam freely. She stole Angel's soul so he could turn to Angelus (which I always find entertaining, but spells disaster for the characters) and kill people, including the Beast. She killed Lila. She killed Innocent Virgin Girlâ„¢ to "protect" the birth. She was going to kill Lorne when she thought he'd find her out.

I mean, really, you'd think that if she were really possessed by the spirit of Jasmine, she'd keep quiet about the birth, not cause any waves so no one would suspect a thing. Because, hey, if you're full of a spirit that will bring world peace, why do you need to kill a whole lotta people?

Oh, and did we ever find out what Connor was?
