40cakes: (Weekend Update)

Did a lot of driving and family fun this weekend. By family fun, I mean yelling at my dad because he isn't wearing his hearing aids and is trying to hold a conversation, and trying to explain to my parents how the internets work, and no, I don't know why the Netzero window moved, maybe you moved it? Whee. Kirk and I got a chance to marathon the first 8 episodes of Avatar, and it's better than I expected. Nick and CN each made an original "anime-inspired" cartoon, and Nick wins. Later on, we watched my bootleg copy of Lupin III: First Contact, which isn't as good as I remember it being, and I don't remember the subtitles being teh suck (at one point, someone's line was titled as "!!!@#1DF"). Maybe because I usually watch it while doing five other things.

On Sunday, we went to Kirk's family's brunch, and the FOOD DIDN'T STOP EVER. It was good food, mind you, but every time I thought I was done, cheese blintzes and more ham arrived. Whoa. Cute pictures of a small child doing easter egg hunting to follow. I was a little embarassed, because people were giving out gift bags and cards and presents, and I had nothing. My family's holidays are usually very small and consist of "Here's some ham and taters; dig in!"

Tonight, we're going to go see an apartment that [livejournal.com profile] decembermalice found, and I hope it's awesome, because everything else about it seems to work in my favor. Crossing fingers.

I'm with you on the Easter thing. I used to hear "So what presents did you get for Easter?" and be like "Wha? Bwuh? Candy is a present!"

btw, I'm up for anime night this week if you still are! Sorry I didn't get to replying before. I ARE TEH S UKC.

WTF with not replying to me about meeting up? You're getting to be just like me ;)

At this point in time, I'm good to hang out either Tuesday or Thursday, so let me know which is best for you!

I think Casey was a little confused. I have cousins with fathers that make six or seven figures, and they grow bored and irritable easily. So my grandmother gets them dollar store toys to break in order to keep them quiet. My aunt had makeup bags for everyone, but she gets them free from work and gives them to the family. So it's not like a second christmas or anything.

Casey's description of the food, however, is correct. I'm saddened that I didn't leave room for blintzes.

Wow, the food sounds awesome. Part of me is extremely envious, and the other part is still sick from all the 50%-off Target easter candy we bought during lunch.

When I first read your last comment, I thought to myself, "That's a very good idea." And then I thought, "Maybe that's not a very good idea."

Casey and I polished off a bag of Reese's PB Eggs last night while watching foxies steal goose eggs on "Planet Earth."

It is both an awesome idea and a TERRIBLE one, trust me.
