I just saw a Sara Lee Christmas-themed commercial. Set to "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy." From Ren & Stimpy. Yeah.

I love that commercial. At first, I feel dirty that the music is being used for advertising, but really, how much more happy happy joy joy can you get than CAKE? :)

But...but...it's a perverse song! And they're pretending that it's really just about happiness and joy and not a crazy old man swearing "I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs!...I told ya I'd shoot, WHY DIDN'T YOU BELIEVE ME??"

It's pretty generic. A bunch of people in festive sweaters hand around cake and act as if they're having a fabulous Christmas time.

I just about pooped when I saw that commercial. My first thoughts were, "I never thought I'd see the day..."


It was the exact same reaction I had after seeing Slash from Guns 'n Roses pimping for Volkswagen.

Oh, and I had the Happy Happy, Joy Joy song stuck in my head all the way up until I actually fell asleep that night.

I have yet to see this commercial, but I'm pretty sure my reaction will be the same as when I saw A Christmas Story used in that manner.
