Oh no, it definitely doesn't. More than anything, I think what he says while drunk is more truthful than anything his handlers make him say the morning after. I've always given him the benefit of the doubt when the anti-Semitic rumors were first floating about, but now I think we've all learned how he feels.

But I hear a lot of comments and see a lot of headlines about his apology and how this is affecting his career and whether or not Jews should forgive him yada yada yada, and primarily, all I keep thinking is, "He was driving drunk! He could've killed someone! Fine, ABC pulled his Holocaust project, whatever; how's he getting punished for driving with alcohol in his system?"

The official statement is that it was because it's been in development for two years and they still have yet to see a script. And really, I'm sure they were fine with that BEFORE he got arrested and made an insane anti-Semitic tirade. But now...yeesh. That's like David Duke helming a movie about Slavery.

Considering that he made a movie that's supposed to be about the New Testament where everyone speaks gibberish and death is valued over resurrection, I suppose the courts can consider Gibson's DUI a drop in the bucket of terrible, terrible destruction.
