Dude, I got digits!!!
Mar. 15th, 2006 11:01 pmTonight on the train ride home, a man sat behind me and asked what knitting I was working on. I told him just an iPod cozy, and continued with my work. Every now and then I saw him stand up and peer over the seats, and thought nothing of it. Knitting enthusiast, I figured. As the train neared my stop, he spoke up and said, "Um, I'm no good at this, but here's my card if you want to have dinner or just, y'know, hang out on the train sometime. I always notice you when we're on the train together, and you're always very pretty."
"Oh. Okay. Gotta go!"
The last part makes me wonder if I've sat near him before, because I just don't recognize him. Once, about a year ago, I sat by myself in the back of the train, and a guy sat in the two-seater at the opposite end of the row. I kept getting the sense that he was staring at me, but brushed it off - maybe I was reading a really good book and he wanted to see the title or something. But as I got up to leave the train, he said, "It's been a pleasure sitting with you."
"Uh huh. RUNNING!"
So I wonder if it's THAT same guy. I think I remember that guy being younger, though. "Russ" (my new beau's name) looked at least 35.
But the point of this story is that I have found an answer to something very serious that weighs on my mind every day of my commute.
No, I am NOT picking my nose and talking to myself TOO MUCH on the train.
