40cakes: (Weekend Update)
Dude, vacations are so much more fun when you do things during them. Also, you could replace the word "vacations" with "relationships" and you would have a similar assertion from me.

In summation, as my camera is big and does not travel well, and thus I don't have a picture summary of the past week and a half:

1. Furniture building is fun! Can I build it? Yes, I can!

2. How the Hell did I ever live in a twin bed? Granted, sheets are more expensive now, but man! How did I survive?

3. Kamikaze Girls is very much fun. Viz, when did you get so awesome? Release on DVD and soundtrack on CD soon, plzkthx.

4. I don't think they're actual giants. But they might be. Whatever they are, they're good in concert, especially when it's free. Also, TMBG has apparently been around since 1982 also, and thus I feel kinship.

5. DDR is ferior to Pump It Up. I will still waste credits at Dave & Buster's on it, though, as I refuse to lose to a machine. Kasparov won, I can do it too! Similarly, piles of little crane-game stuffed animals are cute and comfy.

6. Downstairs roommate is not as awful as former roommate Jen would have had me believe. She does however have her own set of problems.

7. Word Wars is a pretty dern good documentary about the Scrabble-obsessed. Now if only there were some show about those obsessed with the Pursuit of Trivia.

8. Terry Pratchett seemed like a lovely gentleman, and I'm sure he was very funny, but the only book of his I've read, I didn't like, and while he was speaking, my nose was buried in the new Arkham Asylum GN.

9. You'd think orange roses would be harder to find, but they're not. Not that I'm complaining, because yay I heart having orange roses in my room. Though they're kind of dying now.

10. Goth clubs are fun, especially as they play music I like, I can dress how I want, and everyone's got their own style of dancing/is too wrapped up in themselves and friends to notice other people, so I don't feel like a total spaz on the dance floor.

11. Nintendogs is not worth all that money to get a DS. Nintendogs is not worth all that money to get a DS. If I keep repeating it, perhaps it shall sink in. Nintendogs is not worth all that money to get a DS.

12. Having a Denny's to just the two of you at 1am? Bliss.

13. Discovering the Palisades mall? AWESOME. (shit, I'm a Jersey girl now, aren't I?)

14. Showing someone Utena and trying to answer perfectly innocuous innocent questions without giving anything away? Really fun.

That's it for now, as my sleep schedule is all over the map, and I'm waking up at 6am to get to work. Oy vey. Remember, 9/19 is "Talk Like a Pirate" day, so keep at it, mateys! And now, an unanswered question from this weekend:

If you're a furry, but not a vegan, does this involve some bizarre form of cannibalism? Discuss amongst yaselves.
40cakes: (Kitty!)
If'n ye remember this post, in which I talk about my consumer whorism, I thought I'd update those of you on the edges of your seats by letting you know I got the Goddess Ring.

Holy cats is this thing huge! Also, it has these little tassles on it, so I pretty much have to turn it upside-down to put it on. But eee, it's purple and sparkly and distracting and that's all I ask for in my accessories.

So just thought I'd let youse guys know.
40cakes: (Truly outrageous)
So I can't believe I didn't actually make a post last year about what goes down at work for Halloween. Huh. (And for those of you who don't know, this is one of those posts where you're not supposed to mention where I work in the comments. Capice?)

We're big on Halloween here. We order in a few kegs and start the drinking at 10am sharp. There are costume contests (on the intranet! high tech!) and competitions and races. We take pictures and send massive email spam promoting ourselves. Years later, people still will speak of "Man, did you SEE what she was wearing?" and "Oh dude, I remember that outfit, it was awesome!"

So I need ideas for a costume. I really shouldn't spend a lot of money, but I want it to be cool. I work with a lot of creative people, so I have to one-up them! Group ideas can work, too, as long as it's not anything too obscure (no cosplay, youse guys) or too massive. I was thinking of getting a group together to do Jem & the Holograms, but no one seems to be jumping at the idea, so there's a distinct possibility that I may be doing something solo. "Sexy" outfits are okay, but keep in mind there are PLENTY of women here who are far more daring and skinny than myself.

No, [livejournal.com profile] jaina, I am not going as a dirty pirate hooker.

Tonight's To-Do List:
Laundry!!
Learn to Cook
Clean Room (real cleaning, not "What? There's a path from the door to the bed!" cleaning)

I bought an Easy button at Staples; it doesn't seem to work properly. It just has the VO from the commercials saying "That was easy!" but not actually making my life easy. Harumph.

None of this is helped by the knowledge that SOMEONE in my department is going to LA tomorrow morning, but I don't know who, and I will in all probability be called upon to coordinate their travel. Argh. Luckily I have a Hello Kitty pen to keep me entertained. Also, my shoulder has mysterious hurt, not related to scar. Luckily, it only hurts when I touch it. Or sleep on it.

I got to sleep last night at some point after 1, and woke up thinking of the new Revolution controller. No, I don't know what the fuck I was dreaming about, either. I rolled over to look at the clock to see how much more sleep I could get. 5:59 am. I waited the minute for the alarm to go off so I could just hit Snooze.

I got my original [livejournal.com profile] calamityjon art in the mail today! Yays! If you want one of your own, they're $10 minimum, shipping included. Check out the rest of the sketches here. It's all to raise money for the MS society, folks. Be a do-gooder, dammit. (If you're wondering, I bought the "Sunshine Umbrella" that's the very first piece shown.)

[EDIT]: So apparently, [livejournal.com profile] calamityjon has killed the art auction, just as I posted about it. He's sneaky that way. But you should still follow the links and donate, because helping people is good.
