Pretear has my heart.
What can I say? I picked up the first DVD because it looked cute and had pretty artwork. And then I was swept away. Everything - from the not-quite-standard-fairytale plot, to the watercolor-style backgrounds, to the sexually suggestive henshin drew me in. Illich Guardiola as Hayate didn't hurt.
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi has my brain.
I had read about this in Newtype, and picked up the box on sale. It promised to be just as wacky as Excel Saga. But it was so much more. Who knew that the wacky adventures of two preteen geeks could have such a heart and a serious side? It's smart with its parodies, but there's a plot behind all the jokes.
GTO has my stomach.
Between the gross-out humour and the dangerous situations, it's only natural that Onizuka would rip up my digestive track.
Utena has my nerve endings.
Because throughout the entire thing, I positively, absolutely had to know right now what the fuck was going on. And just when the series built me up to a point of anticipation...they'd stick in a filler flashback episode about Nanami.
Excel Saga has my tear ducts.
Because it made me laugh until I cried. And then it made me cry. SHUT UP.
Sailor Moon has my inner child.
It's pink! And there's a Pegasus! And a princess! And true love! And I love it all.
Trigun has my soul.
Technically, I shouldn't answer this one, since I don't really have a soul (I work in TV). I picked up this series because the action figure looked cool. Really. And then I didn't look back. What DON'T I love about this show? You've got a layered main character, plus two intelligent, strong women who aren't there for fanservice. Action. Adventure. Suspense. Romance (if you squint and look to the left). Deep philosophy. Add good music and great animation; stir. And, as is very important to me, the villains ROCK.
But Pretear has my heart.
And I gave Hellsing my blood.
