For anyone who's lazy and wants a summary -

The FCC has ruled that it's okay for broadcast television and radio to use the word "fuck", as long as it's not used in a sexual connotation. Which means that on any given episode of NYPD Blue, a criminal of the week can say, "I'm gonna fuckin' kill you," a statement that breeds hatred, violence, and a potentially fatal action. But in that same episode, I cannot make an Emmy-winning guest star appearance where Mark-Paul Gosselaar says that he'd like to fuck me (SHUT UP u nevar 4get ur 1st luv), a statement that involves a consenting act between two adults, potentially romantic.

I don't see networks rolling this out just yet. Maybe on Will and Grace first, since they've devolved to the point where they don't even use euphemisms anymore.

I could start a diatribe about how America seems to fear sex and intimacy like nothing else, and has no scruples about gushing and guts, but I've said all I can say about that. Instead, I'm upset that one of my favourite words may someday become commonplace, and I'll have to come up with a new curse word to use. I'm gonna say "jamf."

• When I respond to LJ comments, I can't use dirty words, since the words of the comment appear in the URL. I can't form a reply with the word "fuck," but I can stop by the anti_fandomrape site.
  
• I can't stop by the Virgin Anti-Lemon League, because the word "virgin" is in the URL. But "rape" is okay. Unless it's virgin rape.
