I mentioned before in an earlier post that I had gotten my Mum hooked on Shoujo Kakumei Utena. She always thought the series was very bizarre, and so I threatened to show her the movie. Tonight, nothing good was on tv, and she's all down with the quality time since I move back in tomorrow, so I said, "Hey, hows about I show you the Utena movie?"
She sighed. "Alright, but if it's too weird, I'm leaving."
Me: "Whoot!"
And she sat through the whole thing! Here are some memorable quotes:
"I get it! It's not my fault you're weird; it's because you watch strange shit like this!"
"This is the weirdest fuckin' movie I've ever seen."
"Wait, so they went from two naked girls to a cow with a mouse up its nose? What?"
And the one that surprised me most of all...when the car explodes, and Anthy and Utena are riding to the outside world, wearing nothing but smiles, she says this:
"Oh. So it's about ditching their boyfriends, going out in the world by themselves. They don't need men."
And I just kinda stared at her slackjawed. In one viewing, she got the Utena movie.
