Anime Fans is the craziest people.
Aug. 17th, 2003 09:28 pmHow does one stay so sheltered, exactly? Really, I first noticed it with the "What's a tribble?" joke that became all too real.
I asked
anime about recent developments where certain anime are being developed into live-action films. The two in particular I asked about where Lupin 3rd and Battle Angel.
The first reply I received said "The only one I've heard about is the Kenshin adaptation starring Tom Cruise. Eccccch."
The Last Samurai is about a Civil War veteran who travels to Japan to teach soldiers yada yada yada.
Rurouni Kenshin (sometimes called "Wandering Samurai" or "Samurai X" in America) is about a former ruthless assassin trying to live a peaceful life to atone for his sins.
I can totally see how one would draw conclusions that Tom Cruise is playing Kenshin.
In other news that isn't as mean, I got all of Hellsing for $50 at EB in the Hamilton Mall today. Apparently, some guy came in and unloaded about 200 anime DVDs so he could trade for games. I wish I had been there yesterday. But still, yay! (And danke for
arafel for loaning me the series and making me think, "Hm, yes, I do enjoy this!")
I also picked up "Lupin the Third: The Movie: The Secret of Mamo" (aka: Colons are fun! Let's put lots in the title!). It was $30 at Sam Goody, but I enjoyed the flick, and I couldn't find it anywhere else. So huzzah. Plus, it came with a keychain and a little book ^_^
Need to watch Noir and Night Shift Nurses (snerk).
Oh, and Soo - couldn't see your jpg o' recent purchases. Update, dammit!
