So Disney announced a few months ago that they were designing wedding gowns in the fashion of the Disney Princess collection. Against all the patriarchy-hatred inside that curses the capitalism of the wedding industry, the still, small voice within me thought, "...prettyyyy..."

They recently revealed the designs (or as one article put it "re-veiled", which made me think that the designs were scrapped, and put back under the veil. It's early.) Ew. They just sort of look like...wedding gowns. Not that there's anything wrong with wedding gowns, but if I'm going to shell out $3500 for the Ariel gown, I want a shell bra and a fish tail. WHERE'S MY GODDAMN FISH TAIL WEDDING DRESS, DISNEY??

If you click on collections, you can see the variety of dresses. The best one in my opinion is the Belle collection, because they at least have a couple gold dresses in the style of hers from the film. I mean, Snow White is all about the poofy sleeves, and two of the dresses in that collection don't even have sleeves! WTF?

In the event that I ever may get married (as is written in the book of Revelations), I think I'll just knit my dress. Or wear black like a harlot. HOT.

[EDIT]: Also, hey, if you're gonna have a Jasmine collection, could you maybe hire at least ONE non-white model for that shit? Maybe?

Wow. Nice going Disney. Make a bunch of dresses that not only have little to do with the characters the collections are named after, but make them universally boring as well.

Seriously, where's that bright pink Ariel ballgown? Belle's gold dress? Jasmine's harem pants? The actual wedding dresses from the actual movies?

So, yeah. Maybe this was a challenge from Project Runway that went awry?

Well, I'm still waiting for my Pocahontas wedding dress, made of real leather.

I feel the same way as that first comment! Ariel's wedding dress had those huge puffy sleeves, that looks nothing like her dress! Although, I like that they all have a "fishtail/Mermaid" type hem (Is "hem" the bottom? I mean the bottom of the dress where your feet come out). That model is so thin that she doesn't really fill it out right, I feel like a meramid dress hugs your hips and legs very tightly and spills out very very low.

In the event that I ever get married, I just need something that will show off my clear plastic 6 inch heels.

Seriously. If you put those dresses in a lineup and said, "which one goes with which princess?" I MIGHT be able to guess Ariel and Belle.

I think it's the "line" of the dress. Maybe?
