40cakes: (Weekend Update)

When I woke up this morning, last Wednesday seemed so damn far away. It honestly felt weird driving to my morning train today.

Visited Kirk Wednesday night to drop off a movie and make kisses before the holiday. Got on the turnpike just in time for there to be no traffic. AWESOME. Immediately started laundry as I had a good deal to get through. (I HATE laundry.)

My parents got a loan to pay off my credit cards, which I will then pay back to them. Instead of three payments a month at least $50 each, now have one payment of about $60 per month. Deep breath. I closed two of the big cards and kept a little one. Hopefully that makes good.

Thanksgiving was spent with laundry and cooking and laundry and eating and oh God was there eating and followed by big mclarge huge nap. Thanksgiving at my house is a small affair, as it's just me, Mom, and Dad. We include the cats by sneaking them bits of turkey under the table. Cats were glad to see me, if you interpret Willow's biting and scratching and Bubba's napping on my things as affection. Personally, I do.

Got up at the crack of dawn Friday to indulge in the insanity of shopping. Meant to hit up K-B first, but the line out the door deterred me. Fine, jerkasses, buy things for your children while I try to weasel out cheap toys for me and my friends. Gah. Got a lot of shopping done this weekend, and crossed some people off the list entirely, or at least figured out what they get. I still have Secret Santa at work, and then I signed up to NY Cares, so there's a couple more that are up in the air.

Came home early Friday night and went out with Stacy and Kirk in the booby top™. Tried to avoid the smoke indoors, which is something I have become unused to since going out in NYC a lot. WEIRD.

Saturday was a lazy day spent being snuggly and warm in bed before heading up to Jersey City to see Bright Eyes. There was not rocking out as was witnessed at the NIN concert, but there was some rocking. Moderate rocking. A definite leaning to and fro. Feist was very good and I liked Magic Numbers a little. Downloaded Kirk's copy of the Feist album, perhaps will purchase Magic Numbers. Hey, they were British!

Sunday was another lazy day, punctuated with some more shopping for Christmas presents. Whoot. Finished 2nd season of Coupling, watched City of God and Melvin Goes to Dinner. OMG so much TV/Movies. Kirk and I are going back and forth, showing each other movies we think the other needs to watch. This is a bit lop-sided, as he has a huge collection of foreign and independent film, and on my end it's like, "Dude, Josie and the Pussycats is vastly underrated." (He did like Head, though.)

And now I'm back at work, fighting off sleep.
