Jun. 1st, 2004 01:00 pmI really want to see this movie. Maybe in a few weekends.
Now, let me say this. Whatever generation it is raising kids now (Is it Gen X, or is it older? I'm talking about the people who have 5-15 year old kids, here) needs to step up to the plate and take responsibility. Yes, McDonald's has billions of advertising dollars, and you're just a parent. But guess what? YOU'RE A PARENT. That means you get to make the rules now. Remember how much you hated Mom & Dad when they wouldn't let you do exactly whatever you wanted as a kid? That doesn't mean that now you let your kid run willy-nilly to make up for it. No - now it means you can get your revenge!
McDonald's has ads that your kids see every day. You have a car. The car goes vroom vroom and takes your kids to McDonald's. Unless your personal chauffeur is Grimace, don't blame the faceless corporation.
Maybe that movie will change my mind. I'm betting it won't. But it looks to be entertaining, whatever it teaches me.
