Reality Shows really are real!

I have entirely too much shit to do today to argue with people on the internet, but I couldn't help myself.

I expected an argument. That wasn't an argument.

Yes it is.

I just thought that show was regular folks who were REALLY into being superheroes, like American Idol, but with capes.

I've never seen it, though.

I love it and everyone on it is CRAZY. They did kick one woman off the show because she revealed she was an actress, so it seems kinda hypocritical that EVERYONE'S an actor, but seriously. It's a reality show. I still get surprised when I see people who think everything on a reality show happens exactly how it's presented and people are really like that and no editing whatsoever was done.

And since the ultimate prize is being in a Sci-Fi movie and a comic book, the ultimate prize of the superhero show is...being an actor.

True dat. Maybe they're on IMDB because of that show? I do realize reality TV is all edited, and all crap, mostly, but I will admit being naive enough to assume that they got all those people from, like, nationwide auditions....which I guess actors could go to, now that I think about it...

I need some coffee, dammit.

On IMDB they have film and TV experience listed. Though I'm sure they have better pictures now that they've worn tights for the camera.

Yeah, I looked at the profiles after my comment. Bah.

I wanna be a superhero, and I can't act for SHIT. They should put me on. Except, I'll actually beat the shit out of the supervillain when he threatens to destroy Universal Studios, not just mooch off the tourists' cheese fries. Well, maybe a couple fries. But I'll still kick their asses.

Actually these days a lot of reality shows seem to be populated mostly by actors (or in Zoolander parlance various slashes e.g. actor slash model). That isn't quite the same thing as being completely staged though.

Looking through the acting 'careers' of most of these people (I saw a couple of their websites after reading about the 'controversy' on Wikipedia), I think the are more 'aspiring' actors than anything.

Granted, I don't see why people would care all that much. I mean we have people running around in tights being lead by Stan Lee and they are getting all detail oriented?

I just think it's extra ridiculous since it's not like "Who Wants to Be a Mechanic?" and they're not actually mechanics, but actors - they're "superheros". NO ONE IS A SUPERHERO. And anyone who goes on national television in tights and a cape and isn't an actor is usually getting arrested as a foot fetishist or something.

I can see it now:

"My friend Lisa is a superhero. She totally saved 20 kids with her super strength last week but she looks funny so they wouldn't let on the show and instead let some ACTRESS ON."

Wally West is a Mechanic AND a Superhero, but not an actor

and I dont think Foot Fetishism is illegal

Also I dont think Levity counts as an actor if his only experince is just being "guy in line"
But he did work on the JLU so that should earn him geek props
